We certainly got our “April showers,” didn’t we? Now it’s time to look for and enjoy our May flowers. And in a way, we will be doing that in this issue as we first celebrate Mother’s Day – “I hope you like the flowers, Mom,” camping – there will be flowers most everywhere you look, and fitness. Fitness, you ask? Yes, because we will be giving you tips and ideas on how to take your fitness routine outdoors.
In this issue we are also going to introduce a brief series of articles called “Short Getaway…” As we look ahead to summer and fall we will give you “getaway” ideas for a day, a night, or a long weekend. In this issue you will find our first article in the series, “Short Getaway: Lewisburg, PA.”
Now, Mother’s Day is going to be on Sunday, May 12 this year. Plenty of research shows that moms want nothing more than a connection with their children on the big day. In-person visits are the way to go, but if you can’t, or even if you can, a beautiful card and flowers will be greatly appreciated. We’ll tell you more and make a suggestion or two on possible outings in our area for the big day in “Celebrating Mom on Mother’s Day.”
We also want to suggest taking your fitness routine outdoors as the days get warmer. Not only will it give you the opportunity to avoid the eyes watching you at the gym, it will also give you a sense of freedom and let you craft you own workout to really suit your needs. We take a look at all of that, as well as fitness apps (mainly free) that will give you coaching and motivation right in your ear throughout the process. See “Taking Fitness Outdoors” for all the details.
Turning our attention to camping, we take a look at “10 Unwritten Camping Rules to Remember.” Many of us go camping to get away from the daily grind, but you can still have other people around when you’re at your site. In case you don’t know, there are actually some unwritten rules of camping to be aware of and we cover them in this article.
Finally, in a continuation of our look at different areas of health that we began last year, we will look at sleep apnea, a medical condition that impacts the lives of millions of Americans. It will be worth you time to read the article, “Know the Risks of Sleep Apnea.”
So there you have it! We hope you enjoy this issue. Please join us next time when we present our Memorial Day issue with special articles on beach safety, healthy summer vision and more. See you then.
