Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley is thrilled to open their second ReStore location, adding to their original retail location in Whitehall, PA. Now the 501(c)(3) nonprofit is able to serve both Lehigh and Northampton Counties with their ReStore operations. Opening in 2013, the Habitat Lehigh Valley Whitehall ReStore reached $1 million in sales in 2023, and the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is excited to see their growth reach even more low to moderate income families in the Lehigh Valley. The additional ReStore in Hellertown inhabits the former Neighbors Lawn and Garden Center property on Main Street in Hellertown, and Habitat Lehigh Valley spent the summer of 2024 completely renovating the space which had been unoccupied for several years. ReStores around the country support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Funds generated at both ReStore locations in the Lehigh Valley funnel directly back into the homeownership and critical home repair programs, and every donation of gently-used items supports ReStore sales. The Hellertown ReStore has already seen incredible support from the local community and is filled with unique antique furniture, housewares, brand new home decor, building supplies, plumbing fixtures, and more. Donations have been accepted since September 10th, and the organization anticipates a very busy and active grand opening after a formal ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday, October 24th.
Both ReStore locations in Whitehall and Hellertown are open for donations Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and open for shopping Wednesdays – Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Founded in 1989, Habitat Lehigh Valley has dedicated 138 homes in the past 35 years and helped repair over 100 homes for low to moderate income families. Habitat Lehigh Valley looks forward to the continued support from the local community as it nears completion of 4 homes in South Bethlehem on Philip Street and repairs even more homes throughout Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Too often, low to moderate income families are forced to choose between putting food on the table or paying rent in the Lehigh Valley, as the affordable housing crisis continues to severely affect local communities. Funds generated from ReStore sales in Whitehall and now Hellertown are unrestricted and greatly support Habitat Lehigh Valley’s ability to serve Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley builds strength, stability, and self reliance through shelter and believes in a world where everyone deserves a decent place to live. Our Homeownership and Critical Home Repair Programs serve hardworking, local low to moderate income families seeking a hand up – not a hand out – on their path to affordable and sustainable homeownership in Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
